Septic System Regulations Update

by | Jul 19, 2025 | Lake City News | 0 comments

In a significant development for homeowners, new state regulations requiring aerobic septic systems for all repairs were temporarily halted this afternoon due to legal challenges. The regulations, which would have required costly upgrades from traditional septic systems to aerobic systems costing around $10,000, have been put on hold indefinitely.

Commissioner Hollingsworth expressed relief at the delay, noting that the requirement would have created significant financial hardship for many residents. County officials plan to invite health department representatives to provide updates on the evolving situation at the next meeting.
